Aria was once a very beautiful, very vain mermaid. Men would come from miles and miles just to ask for her hand in marriage, but Aria would insist that none of them were good enough for her. Aria thinks very highly of herself and has never settled for anything in her life. All of this rejecting handsome mermen and boasting about her beauty to her peers made her quite notorious among the Therians and some would say that it made her ugly on the inside, if not the outside. One day, the sea witch Genevieve Leveque decided to set her straight once and for all and took away the thing she loved perhaps even more than her appearance— her connection with the sea. The sea witch made her human.
Aria has been living a life on land for about seven months now and isn’t quite sure how she feels about all of these new Carenthians joining her on the island recently, given the rivalry between her kingdom and theirs. However, this hasn’t stopped her from befriending many of them, considering she, like the Carenthians, had something taken away from her. Aria has tried to come to terms with being a human and it’s very true that the curse placed upon her has humbled the woman a bit. She is far more compassionate and selfless than she ever was as a mermaid. However, the curse can’t be broken until someone falls in love with her for the soul she is on the inside, not the beauty she is on the outside. And since she only has a year to do so and seven months is already up, time is almost running out.
As a human, Aria still holds herself to a high standard in her day to day life. She comes off as very sophisticated, but her main priority is to have a good time and she will do just about anything to curb the sadness of not being one with the sea anymore. Aria has a fantastic sense of humor and often likes to play and poke fun at her customers at the coffee shop. The biggest change in her since the curse was placed has been her new respect for friendship, and it isn’t an exaggeration to say that she’d take a bullet for any one of her new friends. She has learned to put others before herself for once in her life.
